The Grouping of European Campuses

Created in February 1992, the GEC is the most recent of a family of three voluntary initiative associations that share the common focus of young people, informal education and sustainable development throughout Europe.
The GEC’s initial purpose was to bring together the different partners involved in the first campuses, which were at the time under the responsibility of the APARE for those working in the area of heritage and under the CME for those working on the environment. The GEC was a forum for discussion and consultation.
The GEC rapidly began to develop its own activities in the area of international voluntary initiatives for the environment and heritage, taking over the organisation of campuses and launching its own initiatives in the context of the European Voluntary Service. These are generally held in cooperation with APARE and CME projects (for example, providing the CME with a volunteer, organising a campus with partners of the RINAMED programme, etc.).
