sheepfolds, pastoral developments, farms, water containers
and crop terraces.

Strategy
- To allow everyone the opportunity to participate in discussions
and operations to improve their environment;
- To encourage exchanges between experts and amateurs, town
and country dwellers and different generations;
- To provide a basic training on the protection and development
of the environment and heritage.
Action
Volunteer workcamps:
The international voluntary workcamps (for teenagers of
16-17 years or adults of 18 years and over) use an approach
that values manual work and provides the opportunity to develop
a new relationship with the region's heritage and history.
They are linked to the popular education movement and they
operate according to the following principles:
- joint realization of practical work,
- introduction to a traditional technique,
- autonomous approach to learning about managing community
life,
- intercultural exchanges.
There is a balance between work (which usually takes place
in the morning) and free time which is for exploring the region
(cultural and sport activities).
All the workcamps are supervised by specialists (builders,
architects) and provide an excellent introduction to the restoration
of the architectural and natural heritage.
The training courses:
Training as a workcamp supervisor
This is a week-long course certified by the French ministry
of youth and sport. It takes place during the Easter holidays.
The course trains participants how to coordinate summer workcamps.
This intensive training includes: an introduction to the structure,
coordination techniques, managing a budget, security, communication,
the coordinator's role and status.
Technical workshops:
These more specialized courses provide the real foundations
for a technical apprenticeship (stone cutting, building with
dry stones, etc. ). They usually take place before and after
the summer season on workcamp sites.
On-site training course:
APARE, a recognized training organisation, has been asked
to set up training sites where trainees learn the trades involved
in restoring heritage sites. These courses are professional
training courses. .
