With the « Transalpine Dry-Stone Road », the APARE and it’s partner AURIATE have set up a real cross-border thematic itinerary, creating a network of architectural testimonials to the techniques of dry-stone walling from the Piedmont region to Haute Provence. As well as the work-camps and campuses already on offer, the Alcotra programme will result in the creation of a Franco-Italian exhibition on the theme of dry-stone construction, as well as a document compiling the French and Italian itineraries that have been identified on each side of the border.
The « Transalpine Dry-Stone Road » has been set up in the context of the ALCOTRA programme (Alpes Latines Coopération Transfrontalière = cross-border cooperation of the Latin regions of the Alps). The programme’s aim is to raise awareness of landscape preservation issues, particularly the conservation and development of mountain heritage in Italy and France.
