REVPAR-Medoc: Réseau Européen de Valorisation du Patrimoine Rural en Méditerranée Occidentale: European network for the preservation of rural heritage in the western Mediterranean)
The REVPAR Medoc project took place from 2002 to 2004. It was co-ordinated by the Corsican Environment Agency in partnership with the APARE and the Insular Council of Majorca. The project encouraged the use of strategies and joint initiatives focussed on the development of rural heritage features. It resulted in a series of local programmes working on heritage issues (hiking trails in Corsica, sheepfold discovery trail in the Lure mountains of the French Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Arta-Lluc route in Majorca). It also put together methodological tools that are adaptable to other territories and contexts, as well as showing the willingness of the different partners to engage in the long term promotion of high quality cultural tourism. REVPAR Medoc was supported by the European Union in the context of the “Interreg 3 B Méditerranée Occidentale” programme.
