We wish you the best for this new year !


We hope we’ll meet you once again during this summer. You’ll have a large choice since we are preparing a broad ans exciting programme of workcamps, campuses and technical training courses on cut-stone techniques.

Here is an overview of the programme :

> 17 workcamps in Provence, for example in Hyères, Luberon (cobblestone alley), Mediterranean coastline (chapel), Southern Alps (oven) and in Saint-Tropez (ramparts)
> We’ll also propose 2 workcamps on dry stone in Croatia, one in Morocco and also bilingual workcamps French-English.

> Touristical enhancement of rural areas : 3 campuses in Spain - Majorca, Italy –Sturra Valley and France-Vaucluse
> Marketing of local products : 3 campus in France – Baronnies, Greece and France-Corsica
> Sustainable development of European coastlines : 2 campuses in France - Côte Bleue and Scotland
> Prevention of natural hazards : 3 campuses in Morocco – Tanger-Tétoun, France-Italy (cross-border campus) and Armenia
> Creation of a pedagogic garden in an urban park in Tunisia – Tunis
> Eco-tourism in Atlas mountains of Morocco

Workcamps and campuses programmes are not definitive yet. The complete programmes will be avaible at the beginning of March on our Website

  • Dry stone technical training courses :

> 9 sessions will be proposed in 2013 in Port-Cros, Sivergues, Velleron – La montagnette et Vénasque.

New : cultural holidays

Designed for heritage enthusiasts, these workshops offer tuition in different restoration techniques as well as time to enjoy the Provencal landscape through organised walks. They are a unique way to participate in safeguarding dry stone heritage by learning how to work with stone and to discover the real Provence off the beaten track.  

Land of water and stone – 29th September – 6th October 2012

In the village de Velleron, Vaucluse, you will take part in the restoration of a small bridge called the “La Parisienne”
The mornings will be spent practising stone masonry while the afternoons will be the chance to discover water and stone features in the countryside.
Accommodation in traditional rural self-catering apartments.
Price (full board) 795 Euros

 

Following in the footsteps of Albert the Shepherd, in the land of Jean Giono – 16th – 22nd September and 23rd-29th September
In the village of Contadour in the Department of Haute Provence where Jean Giono lived, you will participate in a project to safeguard a dry stone hut associated with Albert the Shepherd who used it to write about his life is the high summer pastures.
Restoration work will organised in the mornings while the afternoons will be devoted to hikes in the Montagne de Lure with writer and guide and stone mason, Hubert Blond.
Your accommodation will be in traditional rural holiday apartments.
Price (full board) 795 Euros

During summer 2012, discover Euro-Mediterranean Campus’ for Sustainable Development

Open to students and professionals in a voluntary capacity, these field-based workshops will enable you to put your skills to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team helping a local project.

This year, you can:  

  • Help promote local produce as part of a rural development project in Corsica, Haute Provence and Greece
  • Coordinate activities to prevent natural hazards with local people in the region of Tetouan in Morocco and in Armenia.   
  • Take part in projects to develop sustainable tourism on the Mediterranean coast on the Island of Porquerolles (France), in Tunisia, or in Morocco.

Exposition au château médiéval de Simiane la Rotonde (04)

du 1er  au 30 juin 2011


L’exposition «  La route transfrontalière de la pierre sèche » est une invitation à la découverte du patrimoine en pierre sèche et du patrimoine rural de Montagne en Haute-Provence et dans les vallées alpines de la Province de Cuneo, trait d’union entre les hommes et les territoires. A travers une quinzaine de panneaux,  elle présente des exemples d’ouvrages en pierre sèche remarquables et témoigne de l’art des paysans à l’origine de ces constructions.

Cette exposition  raconte également l’histoire d’une coopération entre deux organisations sur des territoires ruraux, l’APARE en Haute Provence et AURIATE dans la province de Cuneo. Leur rencontre autour de la pierre sèche a mobilisé de très nombreux bénévoles et passionnés par la mise en valeur de ce patrimoine.

Ces deux associations ont collaboré pendant deux ans (2009-2010) dans le cadre du projet de coopération européen ALCOTRA qui vise à  sauvegarde et à la valorisation des signes caractéristiques du patrimoine montagnard.

Euro-Mediterranean Conference

Conference  : Rediscovering together Memory of Water in the Mediterranean

16 and 17 June 2011 at the Headquarter of the "Region de Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur", in Marseille, the Association APARE organizing a Euro-Mediterranean Conference around water Heritage.

The conference will provide the process and results of the project REMEE by exchanges and debates
Since 2009 the APARE and six partners in Algeria, Corsica, Greece, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey have worked through this project for the protection of water heritage through numerous field actions. They have mobilized young people, actors of civil society, local authorities and lead the implementation of restoration projects, two eco-museums, three paths of discovery, a pedagogical-programme, diagnostics, inventory, video ...

It is meant to all those who are involved or interested in the subject: actors in water management, heritage conservation, local government officers, students...
The pre-programme is available in french on the website : rubric REMEE. Final programme will be on line around 15th of May.

This conference is supported by the European Union within the framework of the EuromedHeritage IV programme and the Region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur.
